Is it OK to plant in metal containers?
You can use metal containers only in shady locations, which both reduces heat and eliminates the glare that can be tough on plants. Or, line your metal containers with bubble wrap to insulate the soil and roots from the hot metal. In very hot climates, however, the metal may get hot enough to melt the bubble wrap.
How can I get a free planter?
Home Depot or Lowes: Your big box plant retailers are the first place I'd recommend checking when trying to score some free containers. They go through mass quantities of plants and have to put those containers somewhere. Ask someone working in the outdoor nursery if they have any containers to spare.
Can you make your own plant pots?
If you have artistic skills you can choose to make your own planters with very beautiful graphics on them. Old paint cans are most handy when it comes to planters and you can use their smooth side either to paint something as like in this case you can glue some vivid colored fabric.
