How deep does a succulent planter need to be?
Succulents grow well in almost any container that is at least 4 inches deep and has holes in the bottom for drainage. Choose a pot about 1/2 inch larger than the base of the plant for upright succulents.
How do you care for a vertical succulent?
Skip watering your vertical succulent garden for a week after planting to let the roots harden and establish their place in the soil. Water weekly in summer and spring, and monthly in winter and fall. Take the whole planter down off the wall, and lay it on a flat surface to avoid washing away the soil inside.
Do all succulents need sun?
In general, succulents need at least 4-6 hours of sunlight a day to keep them happy. They love being in bright and sunny locations. Succulents that do not receive enough sunlight will exhibit problems such as elongation or etiolation, where the plants stretch to seek more light.
