What is a Mangave plant?
Mangave is a relatively new phenomenon, as a cross between the genus Manfreda and Agave. These rare hybrids combine the best of both worlds: the better growth rate and the interesting patterns of Manfreda, and the habit and refinement of Agave.
How do you care for a Mangave plant?
Care. Light: Mangave can tolerate partial shade, but the more sun they get, the more colorful their speckles will be. Protect from afternoon sun when temperatures exceed 85F. It is truly an outdoor plant but can tolerate short spells indoors on sunny sills and under grow lights if necessary.
Do Mangave die after flowering?
It's the one most often seen in cultivation. According to Plant Delights Nursery: “Like its Agave daddy, x Mangave are evergreen (above freezing) and like its Manfreda momma, it is polycarpic (doesn't die after flowering) and attracts hummingbirds.
